Nifty little display of his engineering and fabrication skills, but not really useful for anything. You couldn't hunt with it because of the noise. It also appears to start from the uncocked position when the trigger is pulled and take a couple seconde to fire a bolt.

Thanks. I was looking for something I can carry and conceal.

Seems to have some feed issues. A lot of dry fires in there.

They could have shown the target being hit.

Appears to weigh about 20 lbs.

Probably shoots out to all of 15 yards.

I guess it might make a decent fall-back weapon....if the Visigoths are storming the walls....

That guy can barely hold the thing up.
He'd be better suited with a .380.
Or even a staff, a colorful robe and a few high-level fireball spells to rain down on charging orc hordes.

He appears to be in England, which is why he spent time putting the thing together in the first place instead of just getting a gun.

It might be borderline practical if it were powered by a CO2 cartridge instead of a battery.

Re: Fully-automatic crossbow

I think it'd be a big improvement if the cyclic rate were higher too....what would you say the felocity is? maybe 800fps?

Re: Fully-automatic crossbow

I think a sling would be a more practical weapon. About the same rate of fire, much better range, silent operation, and less weight. Also a great deal cheaper and no chance of a mechanical failure.

LOL GiM is a tough crowd. If you don't build something that can staple a bull to the wall you're basically a limp wristed weenie.

Can't anyone appreciate the craftsmanship and ingenuity this guy has displayed?

If it's not in .45 caliber or above, we're not interested...

I used to own a really nice crossbow until I realized it was a pain in the ass. Heavy and awkward. Like carrying a rifle and a bow at the same time.
